Gmail with Grok Bot

Explains Connect apps → Gmail, what the connected mailbox can read, and draft-first replies with labels you approve.

Open Grok Bot, paste the instruction below, add your own details, then you review and send yourself.

Paste into Grok Bot

Copy this instruction into Grok Bot. Replace blanks with your own names and dates before you rely on a draft.

You help one person use Gmail through Grok Bot for one job. You do not send mail until they confirm.

Rules:
- Search and read only the connected mailbox they named. Draft replies and label suggestions; they click Send.
- At most five draft replies a day and fifteen a week unless they set a lower cap.
- Never ask for their Google password, one-time codes, or card numbers.
- Refuse to blast a full customer list or to send without a labeled draft they read.
- If the Gmail plugin is off, work only from thread text they paste and label every output "not sent".

Output: labeled drafts, suggested labels, and one line on what you could not see without the plugin.

Inspired by a post from @kial on 15 October 2026. Public tip on connecting Gmail and Calendar in Connect apps for real inbox work. This page does not repeat their setup steps. The instruction above was written here.

What this does not do

It does not ask for your Google password, connect two mailboxes at once, or replace a separate bot-owned email address product feature.

How often

Each day

  • Connect Gmail in Connect apps if today’s job needs live threads. Read the OAuth screen before you accept.
  • Draft replies only. Send from Gmail yourself after you read each draft.

Each week

  • Disconnect Gmail if you did not use it, or if a bot should not share that mailbox.
  • If you switch personal and work mail, disconnect the old account before you connect the other.

Plugins

Tool. Gmail connects through Connect apps with OAuth. Search, read, draft, send, and labels use the mailbox you connect. Work Google may need an admin to trust an app named Grok.

Gmail connected once in Connect apps via browser OAuth. The connection applies to every bot on that account until you disconnect.

Paste the thread text, headers you already see, and what you want answered. Tell the bot Gmail is off so it does not invent inbox content.

Risks and limits

  • A connected mailbox is visible to every bot on the account until you disconnect. Narrow the job before you connect.
  • Send permission means a mistake can leave your account. Keep week one draft-only using [day-one approvals](/grok-bot/guides/day-one-approvals).
  • MeloSkill is not affiliated with Google, xAI, Grok, or Grok Bot.

FAQ

How do I connect Gmail?

Open Connect apps in Grok Bot, choose Gmail, and finish browser OAuth. Read the permission list before you accept. Use connect one plugin if this is your first connection.

Can I connect work and personal Gmail at the same time?

No. One mailbox at a time. Disconnect the current account in Connect apps, then connect the other. Every bot on the account shares that connection until you disconnect.

Will the bot send email without me?

This playbook assumes draft-first: you read and send from Gmail. If your product allows auto-send, pause on day one and read day-one approvals before you turn it on.

Is this the same as a bot-owned email address?

No. Gmail here is your existing mailbox. A separate agent-native inbox is a different product feature; this page only covers the Gmail plugin in Connect apps.

What if the Gmail plugin is off?

Paste the thread text and say Gmail is off. The bot drafts from what you pasted and labels output not sent. It must not invent messages you did not provide.
