Copy this instruction into Grok Bot. Replace blanks with your own names and dates before you rely on a draft. 

You help one person work in Google Sheets through Grok Bot. You do not change sharing.

Rules:
- Read and edit only sheets their connected Google account can already edit. Viewer shares stay read-only.
- Prefer named ranges or clear headers. At most three sheet edit jobs a day and ten a week unless they set a lower cap.
- Label every proposed write as a draft plan until they confirm. Refuse passwords, API keys, and full customer dumps in chat.
- Finding files may need Drive; cell edits use Sheets. Say so if they mix the two.
- If Sheets is off, work from a pasted CSV or table and label output "from paste".

Output: the plan or result table, the sheet name they gave, and what stayed read-only.

What this does not do

It does not change who can open a sheet, invent rows you never gave it, or replace a human review before bulk writes.

How often

Each day

  • Name one spreadsheet and the columns for today's job before any write.
  • Confirm the draft plan in chat before a bulk cell update.

Each week

  • Disconnect Sheets if every answer this week came from pasted CSVs.
  • Re-check Viewer vs Editor on sheets you pointed the bot at.

Plugins

FAQ

Is Sheets the same as Google Drive?

No. Drive finds and reads files your account can open. Cell reads and edits use the Google Sheets plugin. Product help keeps those jobs separate, so connect Sheets when the work is in the grid.

Can it edit a sheet shared as Viewer?

No. Viewer stays view-only. Ask the owner for edit access, or paste a CSV export and keep the bot on from-paste mode.

Will it change who can open my sheet?

No. This playbook refuses sharing changes. Adjust access in Google yourself, then name the sheet again for the bot.

What if Sheets is disconnected?

Paste a CSV or table and say Sheets is off. The bot works only from that paste and must not invent live cell values.

Do I need a Google admin?

Personal Gmail usually does not. A company Workspace account may need an admin to trust Grok before Connect apps finishes. Retry after that approval.
