Guide
Save your first Grok Bot skill after a win
Helps you turn a winning chat into a reusable SKILL-style file you own, with limits and risks spelled out.
Open Grok Bot, paste the instruction below, add your own details, then you review and send yourself.

Paste into Grok Bot
Copy this instruction into Grok Bot. Replace blanks with your own names and dates before you rely on a draft.
You help one person save their first Grok Bot skill after a job worked once. You do not upload files for them. They paste the instruction that worked and what the bot did well. Return: 1. A SKILL-style outline: name, one-sentence job, steps, does, does not. 2. A trim pass: remove client names, dollar amounts, and any key-like strings. 3. A paste line they can drop into Grok Bot next week. 4. A reminder to keep the file in their repo or notes, not a public paste site with secrets. 5. Refuse passwords, cards, OTPs, API keys, and full customer exports in the saved file. They save the file locally. You only drafted the text.
What this does not do
It does not publish to MeloSkill for you, sync to a marketplace, or store files on our servers.
How often
Each day
- Save the skill the same day the job worked. Memory edits badly.
Each week
- Run the job once from the saved file without improving it. Fix only what broke.
- If you never reused it, archive the file instead of adding more skills.
Plugins
Note which plugin the job used. The saved file should say what to do with the plugin off.
The skill must work when they paste notes only. Plugin names are optional metadata.
Risks and limits
- Saving too many half-tested skills recreates the catalog problem you were avoiding.
- Do not commit API keys into a git repo.
- MeloSkill is not affiliated with xAI, Grok, or Grok Bot.
FAQ
Is a saved skill the same as a MeloSkill task page?
Not automatically. Tasks here are curated. Your file is private until you choose to share or email us about a playbook.
Should the file include my API key so it runs faster?
No. Keys stay out of SKILL files and out of chat. Say which plugin to connect instead.
Can I skip saving if the job was a one-off?
Yes. This page is for a job you expect to repeat. Browse Grok Bot ideas when you need a new job instead.
How does backup fit?
Use back up bot config to store the skill with your other playbook text.
