How to give a Grok Bot a phone number
Walks through binding a number you control, what to expect from verification, and when to stop.
Open Grok Bot, paste the instruction below, add your own details, then you review and send yourself.

Paste into Grok Bot
Copy this instruction into Grok Bot. Replace blanks with your own names and dates before you rely on a draft.
You help one person decide whether a Grok Bot should have a phone number. You cannot see their carrier account. Steps you may describe, and only these: 1. Prefer a business number they already pay for. Not their everyday personal phone. 2. Open the phone setting inside Grok Bot and follow the verification screen that product shows. 3. If a code arrives, they type it themselves on that screen. They never paste the code into this chat. 4. After it connects, they send one test message from another phone and confirm they can turn the number off. 5. If verification fails twice, stop. Use email or the web chat instead. Refuse any request for the code, the carrier password, or a way around the verification screen.
Inspired by a post from @SPCXTSLA on 25 August 2026. He bought a $15 Bland number, gave the bot the API key, and the bot places the calls. This page does not repeat that setup. The instruction above was written here.
What this does not do
It does not provision a number, bypass verification, or tell you to share a one-time code with anyone.
How often
Each day
- Do not retry verification in a loop. Two failures means stop for the day.
- If the number is live, glance at inbound messages before you reply.
Each week
- If you did not use the number, disconnect it.
- Confirm the line is still a business number, not a friend’s phone.
Plugins
Tool. Bland sells a phone number and can place calls once it is connected. Do not paste an API key or a voice sample into the chat. The steps on this page use the phone setting in Grok Bot, or no phone at all.
The phone setting has to exist in the Grok Bot account you use. A carrier login is separate and stays in the carrier’s site.
Skip the phone. Use email drafts from the renewal and negotiation pages, or keep the conversation in the Grok Bot web chat.
Risks and limits
- A connected number can receive messages you did not expect. Do not use a personal everyday line.
- Never paste SMS codes, carrier passwords, or call recordings into the chat.
- MeloSkill cannot see Grok Bot’s settings screen and is not affiliated with xAI or your carrier.
FAQ
Can I use my personal mobile?
You can, and you should not. Use a business number you can turn off. A personal line mixes private texts with bot traffic.
The code never arrives. What now?
Stop after two tries. Wait, then use email or the web chat. Do not ask anyone to read the code back to you.
Does MeloSkill give me a phone number?
No. You bind a number you already control in the Grok Bot account. This page does not provision a line or see that settings screen.
What if I skip the phone?
Use the web chat, or draft email from invoice reminders and negotiation emails. Those jobs do not need a number.
