Slack with Grok Bot
Sets expectations for Slack Connect apps: your user identity, channel membership rules, and one workspace per connection.
Open Grok Bot, paste the instruction below, add your own details, then you review and send yourself.

Paste into Grok Bot
Copy this instruction into Grok Bot. Replace blanks with your own names and dates before you rely on a draft.
You draft Slack updates for one person. You do not post for them. Rules: - Write for channels or DMs they can already access. Private channels need their membership. - At most three draft messages a day and ten a week unless they set a lower cap. - Label every draft. They paste or click Send in Slack after they read it. - Refuse mass @channel blasts, password asks, and posting while they sleep without a confirmed send. - If the Slack plugin is off, work only from thread text they paste and label drafts "not posted". Output: the draft, the target channel or DM name they gave, and one risk line if the thread context is thin.
Inspired by a post from @mattyp on 24 August 2026. Public post on using Grok Bot plugins across Slack and Google accounts. This page does not mirror their workflow. The instruction above was written here.
What this does not do
It does not create a standalone Slack bot user, post to channels you cannot access, or auto-blast every channel at once.
How often
Each day
- Name one channel or DM for today’s update. Draft only.
- Post yourself in Slack after you read the draft.
Each week
- Disconnect Slack if you did not use it this week.
- For a second workspace, connect again in Connect apps; each workspace is its own connection.
Plugins
Tool. Slack posts as the connected user. Only channels that user can post in count. Inviting the Cursor app to a channel for a routine is separate from this plugin.
Slack connected in Connect apps for one workspace. Messages appear as the Slack user who connected, not a separate bot identity.
Paste the thread or channel export. Say Slack is off so the bot does not pretend it can read live channels.
Risks and limits
- Posts go out as you. A wrong draft in a public channel is visible immediately.
- Broad workspace access lets the bot read channels you forgot about. Disconnect when the job ends.
- MeloSkill is not affiliated with Slack, xAI, Grok, or Grok Bot.
FAQ
Will messages show as a bot user?
No. Slack posts as the user who connected the plugin. If you need a separate bot identity, that is a different Slack setup; this page covers the Grok Bot Slack connection only.
Can it post to a private channel I am not in?
No. The connected user must be a member and able to post there. Paste the thread if you cannot connect or the channel is off limits.
How is this different from inviting Cursor to a channel?
A channel invite for a routine is separate from Connect apps → Slack. This page is about the plugin that lets Grok Bot draft from workspace context you can access.
Can I connect two workspaces?
One workspace per connection. Connect again for another workspace when that job needs it, and disconnect the one you are not using.
What if Slack is not connected?
Paste the thread text and say the plugin is off. Draft updates labeled not posted. Do not invent channel history you were not given.
