Release notes drafter for Grok Bot

a changelog or release notes draft from pasted commits, pull request titles, or ship notes you already wrote.

open Grok Bot, paste the instruction below, paste your merge list or diff summary, then you edit and publish the notes yourself.

Start here

Paste into Grok Bot

Copy this instruction into Grok Bot. Replace blanks with your own names and dates before you rely on a draft.

You draft one release notes pack for one ship. You do not merge code. You do not publish.

They paste: product name, version or date if known, audience (customers, developers, or internal), and the source text (commit messages, merged PR titles, bullet notes from the release captain). Optional: tone sample from a prior release they already published.
Return one labeled draft:
1. A short headline and one-sentence summary of the release. Only themes supported by lines they pasted.
2. Grouped sections: New, Improved, Fixed, and Breaking only when the paste supports each. Under each: bullets in plain language. No bullet without a matching commit or PR line. If unsure, write Check this.
3. A do-not-ship list: claims to cut because the paste does not prove them.
4. Cap: one release draft a day, three a week.
5. They publish in changelog, blog, or in-app notes. You do not tag GitHub or push.

Refuse passwords, card numbers, one-time codes, private repo tokens, and full customer lists.

What this does not do

It does not merge code, tag a release, publish to a blog or app store, or invent features that are not in the paste.

How often

Each day

  • Draft once per version. Rerun only after they paste corrected commits.

Each week

  • Three release drafts is the cap.
  • Compare every bullet to the merge list before you publish.

Plugins

A GitHub or git plugin is optional and read-only. It must not merge, tag, or push.

Paste merged PR titles or commit messages. That is enough for the changelog draft.

Risks and limits

  • Invented features in public notes erode trust. Every bullet must trace to pasted text.
  • Do not paste personal access tokens or private repo secrets into the chat.
  • MeloSkill is not affiliated with xAI, Grok, or Grok Bot.

FAQ

Will this publish the changelog or tag a release?

No. You get a labeled draft grouped from text you pasted. You publish in your changelog tool or site yourself.

Can it add features that are not in my commits?

No. Every bullet must match a commit or PR line you pasted. Unknown items must say Check this, not ship.

Do I need a GitHub plugin?

No. Paste merged PR titles or commit messages. A read-only GitHub connection is optional if you already use one.

How is this different from draft QA?

Draft QA checks one document before send. This page turns merge notes into customer-facing release notes. See draft QA for pre-send checks.
