WP Block Themes
The official WordPress block-theme skill. theme.json presets, HTML templates, and Site Editor troubleshooting. Use it for the theme itself. It is not the WPDS component file, and it is not a pattern-only construction file.

The official WPDS skill (best with the WPDS MCP). Tokens, @wordpress/components, and editor UI — not a classic theme.json theme. Skip it for a public block theme that never touches the design system.

WP Patterns
The official WordPress pattern skill. Block comment markup, registration, and token presets — no custom CSS or JS. Use it for a pattern. Route custom blocks and interactivity elsewhere; do not use it as the whole-theme file.

FAQ
Which skill should I install first?
Start with wp-block-themes when the job is a block theme: theme.json, templates, template parts, or Site Editor styles. Use wpds when you are building WordPress admin, Gutenberg, or product UI on the WordPress Design System. Use wp-patterns when the work is a pattern — a starter page, section, or Query Loop layout in block markup.
Is this for plugins too?
No. This short list is theme and design-system files from [WordPress/agent-skills](https://github.com/WordPress/agent-skills). Plugin directory rules, REST API, and PHPStan skills in that repo stay in the index if we add them later. They are not this job.
Do I need all three?
No. Install one default for the job. A theme.json pass, a WPDS component pass, and a pattern file will overlap if you load them all.
